You Deserve Support — Let Us Help You Find It
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming — especially when you're already carrying so much. Researching therapists, navigating insurance, and figuring out who actually understands the birthparent experience? That's a lot to take on alone. That's where we come in.
We'll Do the Legwork For You
Our case management team is here to help connect you with adoption-competent therapists who have direct experience supporting birth and first parents — so you can focus on what matters most: your healing.
How It Works
Therapy Grants
We know that cost can be a barrier to getting support. Shared Journeys offers therapy grants to help eligible birthparents access the counseling they deserve.
To Be Eligible, You Must:
- Demonstrate financial need with documentation of your financial status
- Not have access to an adoption-competent therapist due to lack of or inadequate insurance
- Present a realistic plan for self-sufficiency and personal growth beyond therapy, which may include connecting with Shared Journeys' case management services, retreats, mentorship program, and support groups
All Grant Recipients Are Asked To:
- Meet with a Shared Journeys case manager to discuss your goals, background, finances, and insurance
- Agree to the terms of the grant as defined by our case management team, including connecting with our birthparent community through Connect Calls, the Birthparent-to-Birthparent Mentorship Program, or retreats
- Maintain contact with your case manager for a minimum of six months following the grant award
- Complete a brief closeout evaluation at the end of the six-month period, including a signed statement on your progress
How Funds Are Used:
All grant funds are paid directly to adoption-competent therapists who have been vetted and approved by our case management staff.
